Happy New Year!

We can’t believe how fast 2019 went! Thank you all for your endless support and love last year. 2019 was definitely a big year and we are even more excited for 2020!

A few highlights from 2019 of course include our first design collaboration with LA influencer, and Kylie Jenner’s best friend @Stassiebaby. You spoke, and we listened and released our first extended sizing range collection which featured cup-size bikini tops and full coverage bottoms. We also stepped outside our comfort zone and went bold at Miami Swim Week, releasing our biggest collection yet. Femme Fatale featured 4 new styles, available in 5 colours. We were also delighted to introduce new stockists to the TJ fam this year to make our swimwear more readily available for our AUS and international babes. 

We have been working hard and would like to share the goals we are working towards and prioritising for the new decade! 

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

As of 2020, we pledge to become more environmentally sustainable. Ideally, we would love to be 100% sustainable right here and now, however this is not possible and it will be a journey rather than a sprint. 

Some areas we will work towards being more sustainable in include

Packaging 

We are currently researching ways to have more sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging. This process will begin from packing your orders with love in our warehouse, to being delivered directly to your door! We would like to minimise the plastic, and unrecyclable materials used and will instead use recyclable, reusable or biodegradable packaging by 2021. 

Office waste

Our pledge for 2020 and the years to come include reducing overall office waste. This includes using less plastic, reducing paper waste, editing + operating digitally and using recycled materials such as recycled office stationery.

Staff 

Our staff will do what they can in their everyday life, particularly in the office, to reduce waste. We have introduced a coffee machine for staff to make their own coffee instead of purchasing from cafes. We have also moved most of our correspondence online, using google sheets, docs etc for work. We have appointed a Sustainability Officer to ensure that we are constantly looking for new ways to reduce our environmental footprint. We are still new to introducing these small changes, but hope to include more and more as the year progresses.

CONSCIOUS CONSUMERISM

Whilst being sustainable, we would also like TJ SWIM and our customers to become conscious consumers. We loved what @Aym.Studio shared about conscious consumerism to spread awareness and educate their followers using their platform:

Here at TJ SWIM,  we pride ourselves on the quality of our swimwear and pledge to minimise waste and deadstock. We work very closely with our manufacturers to ensure that each bikini is made with love. From the fabric quality, to being hand-made, to ethical working conditions for our team in Bali. Our company mission is to produce premium bikinis that will last through a decade of summers. We encourage you to support conscious consumer oriented businesses. Next time you are about to checkout, think to yourself - “Will I feel proud of this item enough to wear it often, and will i wear it for a long time?” We assure you that your TJ SWIM bikini will be with you for an endless amount of summers and vacations.

INCLUSIVITY

We have been working hard, and long on this and are excited to announce that this year we will be extending our size range even further by introducing an additional size! This will be introduced for all new collections released from Jan 2020 onwards. After reviewing customer feedback, we have decided to shift our current sizes S - XL to instead be XS - L. This will more accurately reflect the fit of the bikinis and will make it easier for customers to select the correct size the first time instead of having to exchange. Alongside this, we will also be introducing a new size, taking the size range from XS - XL. We will also be introducing new bikinis tops to suit cup sizes D+.  We have a big year planned, and look forward to introducing new collections to be even more inclusive of each and every body type.
